- JBBDDC will match a merchant's expenditures up to $2,500
on a dollar for dollar basis. Therefore, if you spend $5,000 on facade renovations,
you can get half of it reimbursed. Payments will be made after the work
is completed and only to the merchant, not the contractor. Merchants who
do not own the buildings they occupy must demonstrate that they have the
landlord's permission.
- Stores that are more than 20 feet wide may be eligible
for more than $2,500. This will be decided by the JBBDDC Board of Directors
on a case by case basis and will depend on the availability of funds, and
the importance of the particular project in terms of visual impact on the
streetscape.
- JBBDDC will not pay for the installation of, or allow
the retention of, solid roll down riot gates. We will allow open mesh gates,
including the cost of installation. (Bellerose Village merchants should
be advised that no exterior gates are permitted by the Village.)
- JBBDDC will provide professional design services for
free. (See above drawings as an example of the type of design services
that will be offered.)
- As a general guide, JBBDDC will give preference to
those projects that seek to preserve the original architectural details
of the building's storefront and overall facade. In some cases where the
building has little or no historical character, JBBDDC may permit a more
aggressive redesign. Final aesthetic decisions will be up to JBBDDC and
its professional facade design consultant.
The above guidelines are intended as a general overview of the program.
JBBDDC reserves the right to make changes to these guidelines at anytime.
Merchants interested in the program are encouraged to contact
